Our Objectives

The Group serves as the overarching entity, uniting diverse stakeholders committed to Lake Ol’Bolossat's conservation, ensuring a coordinated and comprehensive approach to its preservation. Here are the key initiatives and objectives:

  1. Profiling Conservation Groups: Cataloging and understanding various conservation groups operating across the seven wards surrounding the lake.

  2. Policy Integration: Aligning policies and legislations crucial for Lake Ol’Bolossat's sustainable management and conservation.

  3. Research and Monitoring: Promoting and conducting research and monitoring efforts to inform conservation strategies.

  4. Partnerships: Actively connecting conservation groups with potential partners in the conservation sphere to foster collaborative efforts.

  5. Advocacy: Speaking on behalf of these groups to address the challenges confronting the lake, advocating for its protection and sustainable management.

  6. Capacity Building: Empowering local communities through capacity-building initiatives, enhancing their understanding of conservation practices.

  7. Land Use Practices: Designing and advocating for appropriate land use practices that ensure the lake's well-being.

  8. Socioeconomic Enhancement: Developing strategies to alleviate pressure on natural resources, fostering a more sustainable socioeconomic environment.

  9. Tourism and Benefit Sharing: Creating opportunities for diversified and sustainable tourism activities while ensuring equitable benefit sharing for poverty reduction.

Collaborating closely with conservation groups, the Group actively participates in on-ground conservation activities, implementing initiatives that safeguard the ecological integrity of Lake Ol’Bolossat.

Lake Ol’Bolossat Community Conservation Group (LOCCOG) was formed and duly registered as a Community Based
Organization (CBO) on15th October 2019.
