About LOCCOG

Lake Ol'Bolossat Community Conservation Group  (LOCCG) was established as the overall body bringing
together the different stakeholders involved in conservation
of Lake OlBolossat to have a coordinated approach
to its conservation.

We want to transform the lake and claim its lost glory through planting trees.

Lake Ol’bolossat

 (meaning a marshy land in Maasai language), Central Kenya’s only fresh and natural lake is situated in the valley
between the northwestern slopes of Aberdare Mountains and the Dundori Ridges in Nyandarua County.

It covers an area of 43.3 sq.kms and offers a variety of habitats ranging from open water through floating marsh and swamps, open
grasslands and riverine forests along rivers and springs that feed the lake.

It holds a wealth of bird species that would attract bird watchers in the tourism industry.

A variety of over 49 species has been recorded so far.

Lake Ol’Bolossat Community Conservation Group (LOCCOG) was formed and duly registered as a Community Based
Organization (CBO) on15th October 2019.
